Look Up!
Look Up!
This oceanic canopy mimicing the storm we are all in is a 100ft by 32 ft hand stitched piece that uses diachronic film to play with light. Using weather and underwater motifs, it manages to create both the beauty and the melancholy of floating under a sea of our own making.
The irony of the world we live is also reflected in this piece – it reuses the 1800 feet of fabric of “The Dervishes” a previous installation in the last LLW to create this shade structure, but also uses a plastic support structure. While this is a reusable piece, it reflects the conundrum of the art world and humanity as a whole – the beauty and irony of the apocalypse.
